Library Policies and procedures
Hurst Hills Library is open every day from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to all students and their families. Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade classes come to the library every week for a 30 minute lesson and checkout. Third grade through 6th six grade classes come to the library every other week for 45 minutes. During this time Mrs. Skrovan will provide a library lesson and include 15 minutes for checkout. Library lessons involve library and information skills, Language Arts, Social Studies, and other areas of curriculum.

What if my child is done with their book(s) before their library day?
The library is open throughout the day for open checkout. Your child is always welcome to come to the library, with their teacher's permission, to trade out their book. Mrs. Skrovan does have classes at various times throughout the day. In the event you come by the library to checkout a book and Mrs. Skrovan is not available, please come back at a later time.
How long can my child keep their library book(s)?
Pre-K through 2nd grade students can keep their books for one week. Third through sixth grade can keep their books for two weeks. Your child may renew their library book one time.
Reward for returning your books on time
Kindergarten through second grade students will receive a sticker on their card library card each week they remember to bring their library books back on time. Once they receive 10 stickers, they can checkout an extra book for that week. I also give out Library CHAMPS rewards for students exhibiting excellent Library CHAMPS behaviors. This is another way students can be rewarded to checkout additional books.
Overdue Books
Hurst Hills Library does not charge fines for overdue books. However, they will not be able to check out additional books until all overdue books have been returned.
Popular Series Books or Bluebonnet Books
Students may only check out one book from a popular series at a time. This includes current Bluebonnet Books.
Lost or Damaged Books
Students are responsible for the books that they check out from the library. If a book is lost or damaged, the book will need to be paid for. Please see Mrs. Skrovan to arrange for payment of lost or damaged items.
